A Word From Fr. Tom - 12.06.15

This weekend we celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent. The readings this weekend focus on preparing for the Lord. In the Gospel of Luke, we are introduced to John the Baptist who is a cousin of Jesus. We will read about John this week and (next Sunday) because he is a major figure during the Season of Advent and he focuses on preparation and repentance. Luke says “prepare the way of the Lord.”

Advent is a time to renew and deepen our relationship with God. It is a time of prayer. As believers who continue to await Jesus’ Second coming, let us draw hope from these texts and prepare for the Lord.

Parish Share 2015 The annual Parish Share campaign is in full swing. A successful Parish Share collection helps our Diocese to function not only in service to St. James Parish, but all of the 200 parishes in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Parish Share helps educate our Seminarians who are our future priests! We all benefit from Parish Share!
