From the Pastor

Greetings Fellow Parishioners: -

After a full week of moving boxes and furniture and office supplies from Good Shepherd Parish in Braddock to my new home at St. James in Sewickley I am ready to officially start my new assignment as your Pastor this week. I am looking forward to meeting you and getting to know you as we begin this new wonderful journey together. I plan on being at all the weekend Masses next weekend to introduce myself. I come to you with an open mind and an open heart.

As your Pastor we have many great things to celebrate as we prepare for the 150th Anniversary of St. James Parish and 100th Anniversary of St. James School. This past Tuesday I met with the 150th Anniversary Committee to go over the events and I am really excited to be part of this wonderful celebration throughout the year. Please join us for the Noon Mass in War Memorial Park on Sunday, September 9th. (Please note that there will be no 11:30am Mass at Church that day). Pray for good weather!

I invite you to attend my Installation Mass as the 18th Pastor of St. James Parish on Wednesday, September 5 at 7:00pm. Bishop David Zubik will be here along with our Regional Vicar, Fr. Sam Esposito. My family and friends will be here to celebrate this new beginning. A light social will follow in the Gathering Space.

I would like to thank Bishop William Winter for covering the parish during this transition time the past several months. I appreciate his leadership. I look forward to working with Fr. Matthew Tosello and our great staff. They all have been so warm and welcoming to me.

I love to walk early in the morning to get my daily exercise so you may see me walking around the Village of Sewickley and I love Starbuck's coffee so I will be a regular customer.

I ask for your prayers as I begin my new assignment. Let us begin this journey together Loving God, and Loving One Another.

With God, All Things Are Possible.

Fr. Tom Burke
