The Shepherd's Voice 03.30.14

Our eyes may have 20/20 vision, but in actuality, we may be spiritually blind. Some of us are blind because of lack of faith. We are all in need of Christ and His light, which comes through His word and the sacrament of Baptism.

From the Fourth Sunday of Lent until the end of the Lenten season, the Daily and Sunday Gospel readings are from the Gospel of Saint John. This weekend we celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Lent which is called “Laetare” or “Rejoice” Sunday. We are “half way” through Lent.

The readings this weekend focus on looking at our spiritual blindness, asking for God’s mercy, and welcoming God’s forgiveness. The Gospel of John tells how Jesus heals the man born blind. The blind man encounters the healing savior and is cured of both physical and spiritual blindness. Let open our eyes to recognize how we are blessed.
