Peace Be With You!

Last weekend our church was packed with people to celebrate Easter! What a wonderful celebration to celebrate the Lord’s Resurrection. For the next Fifty Days we will celebrate the Easter Season and conclude on Pentecost Sunday.

Today is the Second Sunday of Easter, also called Divine Mercy Sunday. In the gospel this week we read about the Risen Lord appearing to his Apostles. One of them, Thomas was absent at the first sighting so he doubted the Lord’s Resurrection. He had to see Jesus in order to believe that he truly rose from the dead. The disciples believed because they saw the Lord. We believe because we see the signs and wonders of God’s presence.

Easter is a time of new life. Let us open up our eyes and see Christ truly present in our midst. Let us let go of doubts, worries and fears and see Christ in those that we encounter each and every day.

Peace Be With You!

Thank You! Special thanks to all those who helped make our Easter Liturgies run smoothly: our Ushers, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers, Choir Members, and Musicians. Thank you to our “decorating committee” for helping with the flowers, fountain set up, and cleaning. Thank you to our maintenance staff for putting in extra hours over the holiday weekend to tidy up the rest rooms and church, and to our parish staff for their extra hard work with the behind the scenes of planning. Many parishioners and visitors commented how beautiful everything was for Easter!

New School Advisory Board forming! The St. James School Board of Advisors is seeking members who are willing to serve on this active, working Board. The new Board will seek to assist the Pastor and Principal in the strategic direction, financial sustainability, and academic excellence. Individuals who are interested in participating on the Board of Advisors are encouraged to attend a meeting next Monday, April 15 in the Gathering Space.

Are You Registered? Every Catholic needs a place to call “home.” If you attend St. James on a regular basis or are searching for a parish to call “home” and are not officially registered you’re most welcomed here!

Congratulations Congratulations to our 92 newly confirmed students. Retired Auxiliary Bishop William J. Winter visited here this past Tuesday for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Special thanks to Karen Conroy, our Director of Religious Education, Sister Christy Hill, our school principal, and our teachers for helping to prepare our children for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Save the Date! St. James Parish and the Knights of Columbus will host an Italian Dinner Dance on Saturday, July 13 from 6:30 to 10:30pm in the school gym. Entertainment will be by Mirella the Italian musician. We are organizing a “planning committee” to help with the event. More details will follow in a few weeks.
