Follow Me!

During the twelve years of my priesthood I have enjoyed my various ministries: Parochial Vicar, Co-Director of Vocations, and Pastor. For five years, 2003-2008, I was the Co-Director of Vocations working with men thinking about the priesthood. I traveled to various Catholic High School’s and youth group programs and conducted several retreats at St. Paul Seminary.

As a Pastor, I have had the wonderful opportunity to be a mentor for two seminarians for their summer pastoral internship and for the past several years I have held the role of Chaplain to Catholic Committee on Scouting working with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and their Religious Awards. We all have a vocation in life, whether we are called to be Single, Married, Priesthood or Religious Life, we all have gifts and talents that God blesses us with each and every day.

This weekend is the third and final Sunday of Easter for which appearance accounts are the focus of the gospel. These accounts, not only proclaim Jesus’ resurrection, but they remind us of the many ways that Jesus is present to us. This Sunday we read how Jesus appears to Simon Peter and the other Apostles at the Sea of Tiberas.

Jesus is always present, reaching out to us and inviting us to “catch our nets” in a new direction, nourishing us in abundant ways, loving us into new life. Jesus’ command to “Follow Me” is a call to love freely and serve faithfully. Do we love Jesus? Love is not simply a good feeling but the tangible caring for others. Like Peter we may fail, but we can learn to love to the end.

New School Advisory Board forming The St. James School Board of Advisors is seeking members who are willing to serve on this active, working Board. New American Flag Special thanks to Congressman Keith J. Rothfus, a member of Congress and also a parishioner at St. James Parish who presented St. James Catholic School this past week with a new American flag. The flag was flown over the United States Capitol on March 6, 2013.

Parish Share 2013 The Annual Parish Share Campaign is in full swing. A successful Parish Share collection helps our Diocese to function not only in service to St. James Parish, but all of the 203 parishes in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Our parish goal for 2013 is $175,210.00.

Parish Share is a very important campaign to help run the day to day operations at the diocese, helps with Catholic School scholarships, Campus Ministry programs, and other organizations. Please be as generous as possible.
