WALKING WITH CHRIST

During the past several weeks we have been very blessed with great weather. I love to walk around the village to get my daily exercise, stop at Starbucks, YMCA, Post Office and I usually walk up to Sewickley Valley Hospital when I get an emergency call. Walking is very healthy for you. When I walk I like that “quiet time” to pray and have that personal conversation with God.

Today is the Third Sunday of Easter. The readings this weekend focus on the risen Christ being present among his disciples. When we walk the journey with the Lord we stay connected with Him and we can share our faith with one another.

In the first reading Peter gives his “Pentecost Sermon” declaring that we are all witnesses to the faith. In the Second Reading Peter tells us to give reverence to God our Father. He sent his Son to be the new Passover lamb to save us from our sins. In the gospel we read the famous “Emmaus Walk” as Jesus encounters two downcast disciples. He reveals himself in the breaking of the bread.

As we journey through our hectic lives, let us take the time to open up our eyes and see Christ in our midst. Christ is alive in us in what we say and do. As we come to church to be fed with the Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist, let us be nourished and bring Christ to those that are most in need.
