Harvest is Abundant, Laborers are Few!

A few weeks ago when I attended the Notre Dame Vision Retreat with our High School Youth Group, many of the students expressed their love for the church. Whether we are called to be Single, Married, a Priest, or Religious Sister we all have gifts and talents that God blesses us with.

Today we celebrate the Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. The readings focus on answering the Lord’s call to come and follow him. In the First reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah, the prophet invites a faithful people to rejoice. The second reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians, Paul rejoices to be united to Christ to be crucified. His words encourage all Christ’s followers to put Christ at the heart of their lives and experience a new creation.

In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus calls and commissions seventy disciples. They are to cure the sick and proclaim the kingdom of God. These readings invite us to hope in the future God has in store for us.

Harvest is Abundant, Laborers are Few!

Parish Improvements

The piano in the church was recently tuned up.

A new outdoor carpet with the words “St. James Catholic Parish” and our parish logo has been placed on the front porch entrance of the rectory office.

Mark Quinn Painting recently touched up some much needed painting in the rectory hallways.

Pittsburgh Blinds Company recently installed new window blinds to the rectory office and priest living areas. The former blinds were over fifteen years old and were in need of much repair.

The Funds for these renovations and improvements have been completely covered by private donations and were at no cost to the parish.
