Christmas is almost here! This coming Thursday we will celebrate the Birth of our Lord. Most of us are making final preparations with purchasing and wrapping Christmas presents, decorating, cooking and visiting loved ones.

Today we celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Advent, and this weekend we read in Luke’s Gospel about the “Annunciation” when the archangel Gabriel appears to Mary announcing that she will be the mother of Jesus. The Fourth Sunday of Advent focuses on the relationship between the creative power of the Holy Spirit and Mary.

Today’s readings call us to ask ourselves what inspires our hopes and how our expectations can be open to God’s boundless and transforming grace. As this Advent season comes to a close, may we be more readily prepared to meet Jesus Christ our Lord.

Christmas at St. James Christmas is a special time to celebrate the birth of our Lord with family and friends. Christmas Eve Masses will be held at 4:00pm, 7:00pm and Midnight and on Christmas Day at 9:30am.

KDKA Radio, 1020 AM will broadcast the Midnight Mass live on the radio Christmas Eve!

Please note that there will be NO MASS on Friday, December 26 and the Rectory offices will close at Noon on Tuesday, December 23 and reopen on Monday, January 5. There are no activities scheduled on campus except for daily Mass and funerals.

Welcome We would like to welcome Dennis, Lisvet, Alexander and Marcus Yancheski and Jared, Beth and Lilliana Roberts who recently registered at St. James Parish. Are You Registered?

If you attend St. James on a regular basis and are not officially registered please complete the form that is in the bulletin and return it to the office. It is very important to be registered especially to obtain a Sponsor Letter to be a Godparent or Confirmation Sponsor. Also, if you are planning to move and change your address, or are not receiving the Pittsburgh Catholic newspaper please let us know so we can update our files.

Year End Donations As we come to the end of another year, I want to thank those who have worshiped with us, prayed with us, and celebrated with us. As you make decisions on your end contributions, please consider St. James Parish. An open donation helps us utilize your gift where it is most needed to run the day to day operations of our parish. If you would like, you can designate your donation to the Parish, School, or Parish Share. May God Bless you and your family this holy season.

Congratulations Congratulations to Bridget Marie Ligons who is being Baptized this weekend.

Save the Date! Auxiliary Bishop William J. Waltersheid will be the principal celebrant for the Sacrament of Confirmation for our eighth graders on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 11:00am.
